Welcome to EriCan Cycling Club!
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to EriCan Cycling Club (EriCan CC)—a community built on a shared passion for cycling, camaraderie, and personal growth. What started as a small group of like-minded Eritrean Canadians in 2014 has grown into a thriving cycling club that fosters inclusivity, wellness, and a love for the sport.
In January 2025, we took a major step forward by officially registering as a nonprofit organization, allowing us to expand our reach, create more opportunities for cyclists, and advocate for a stronger cycling culture. Our mission is simple: to make cycling accessible, safe, and enjoyable for all—whether you ride for recreation, fitness, competition, or social connection.
At EriCan CC, we believe cycling is more than just a sport; it’s a way to build a healthier lifestyle, forge meaningful friendships, and contribute to the community. Through our group rides, charity events, and advocacy efforts, we aim to inspire more people to get on a bike and experience the joy of cycling.
About the Chair – Solomon Habte
Cycling has been a lifelong journey for me. Before co-founding EriCan CC, I was a professional cyclist and a proud member of the Eritrean National Team, competing at both national and continental levels. I began my career with Team Asbeco, one of Eritrea’s top cycling teams, and had the privilege of racing in some of Africa’s most prestigious competitions.

My most notable achievements include:
✔ Stage win at the Tour du Rwanda
✔ Top 10 finishes at the Tour of Eritrea and Tour du Rwanda

These experiences shaped my deep appreciation for the sport and the power of cycling to transform lives. Now, my goal is to give back to the community by making cycling more accessible and fostering a new generation of riders.
I invite you to join us, ride with us, and grow with us. Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space at EriCan Cycling Club. Let’s pedal forward together toward a healthier, stronger, and more connected community.
